Underbed Safe: The Compact Solution for Jeep and SUV Security

What is it made out of? The compact underbed safe, known as the monster vault safe, is constructed with a double wall design. It features a minimum thickness of 16 gauge cold rolled steel, with an additional 12 gauge plate welded to the 16 gauge drawer front, resulting in a total thickness of .16 inch (well over 1/8th inch). The effective thickness for the top and bottom is 11 gauge (.12" or 1/8 inch), while the effective thickness of the sides is 7 gauge (.18" well over 1/8 inch).  

How much does it weigh? 96 lbs.  

Is there a lining in the bottom of the safe? Yes. There is a felt liner made from the same material used in trunk liners in cars (polypropylene).  

What is the finish coating? The finish is a black powder coating (currently the only color option).  

Drawer glides and capacity? The drawer can hold up to 100 lbs.  

How do I mount it? The monster vault under bed safe has 3/8" mounting holes provided in all four corners of its bottom. Fasteners are not included, but a universal vehicle mounting kit is available for those who wish to secure it in a Jeep safe or SUV safe.  

What are the dimensions? The exterior dimensions are 6" high, 24" deep, and 40" wide. The interior measures 4.5" high, 21" deep, and 37.75" wide (43" diagonally). The top of the drawer is positioned 5.5" from the ground.  

What type of batteries? It requires 4 AA Alkaline batteries.  

Is there a key backup? Yes, two barrel-style keys are provided. The serial number on the keys allows for easy replacement if lost.  

How many digits for the code? You can choose a minimum of 3 plus A or B, and up to a maximum of 8 plus A or B. An option to silence the keypress beeps is included.  

Is there a warranty? The US-made monster vault under bed safe comes with a 7-year warranty.  

Is it “Fire Proof”? It is “fire resistant” made of 100% steel but does not have insulation.  

Is it waterproof? While the body is powder coated to resist moisture, the electronics could be adversely affected by immersion.  

Does it come assembled? Yes, simply install batteries (not included), and it is ready to use. Vehicle-style handles are a user-installed option that requires a 1/8” Allen Wrench.  

Do you offer a backlit keypad? Our primary goal is to ensure that you can open your monster vault under bed safe when it is needed most. If the batteries run low, the vault may not open with the keypad. To maximize battery life and reduce the chances of a low battery situation, we chose not to power a light in the keypad. Most customers will get 3-4 years out of batteries for in-home use, which can vary based on how often the lock is activated. If visibility of the keypad in the dark is a concern, we recommend using a separate light source not connected to the lock mechanism. A variety of magnetic safe lights are available; we suggest a low-profile light that can be placed on the face of the monster vault safe to illuminate the keypad and can also be moved inside to see the vault's contents, like this one https://tinyurl.com/5n7ma92u, which is private labeled for several companies.
